(concerning the capture of vapours harmful to sources during Preservative care)
In the technical room of the Funeral or Mortuary room, most of the equipment is no longer up to standard. They do not allow the Exposure Limit Value to be respected Formaldehyde in the workplace (https://www.inrs.fr/risques/formaldehyde/reglementation.html). Formaldehyde as TP 22 is classified as carcinogenic category 1B since 5 June 2014. Formaldehyde is likely to be banned by the end of 2022. Directive (EU) 2019/983 sets the OELV (Occupational Exposure Limit) for Formaldehyde at less than 0.3 ppm. It also sets the 8h VLEP at less than 0.6 ppm, or 0.74 mg/m3 (VLEP 15 min). These provisions have been applied in France since on 11 July 2021. A transitional period has been established until 11 July 2024). During this period, the 8h VLEP of 0.5 ppm is maintained specifically in the healthcare and Embalming sectors.
THE ISOFROID SOLUTION
The Isocart® table trolley reduces user exposure to the lowest possible level (below that set by the regulations). This solution is the most economical and the most flexible possible (particularly for existing technical rooms). There are other solutions available on the market, but they are not as flexible and economical as the Isofroid solution. There is the extraction system with ventilated walls: the investment is very high, especially for existing laboratories. You need to budget around €30K. You can also use a ventilated lifting Autopsy table, but here again the budget is high, at least €20,000. For these 3 solutions, you can install an assistance file with CRAM prévention (eligibility criteria to be determined on a case-by-case basis).
The advantages of the Isocart® trolley
The Isocart® table trolley captures harmful vapours at source. It captures Formaldehyde during Storage. It ensures safety of use for the embalmer. It enables you to comply with Directive (EU) 2019/983. Our solution is validated since November 2020 by the Labour Inspectorate and the CRAM Ile de France.
It is also particularly suitable for limit musculoskeletal disorders (T.M.S.), thanks to :
1°/ its height-adjustable design (to facilitate the work of the embalmer),
2°/ the Prone-Slope design (for easier body handling and washing),
3°/ and integrating the Stretcher into the tank to avoid transferring the Body from the forklift to the treatment table.
This is a real benefits for the user compared with the solutions proposed by our colleagues.
